The Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA) has recently announced the implementation of the American AI Export Program, designed to advance America’s global advancement in AI.
The recent development comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order on July 23 promoting the export of US-made AI technology stack.
In a press release, the Commerce Department announced that the program’s implementation will begin with industry engagement, starting with a Request for Information (RFI) to gather public input from U.S. and global technology companies. The goal is to shape the program’s design, understand industry needs, and ensure effective policy outcomes.
Moreover, to facilitate the buying of US-made AI technology stack, Commerce will set up a dedicated team along with a website under the domain aiexports.gov.
“To provide a global presence for the program, ITA will leverage its expertise in export promotion through its commercial service officers across the United States and the globe,” the Commerce department stated in the press release.
The department is also partnering with the Department of State to tap into its foreign service officers and ambassadors in support of this effort globally.
