The U.S. Marine Corps has named GenAI.mil its official enterprise generative AI platform, consolidating multiple general-purpose AI tools into a single system, according to an official announcement.
The U.S. Department of War (also Department of Defense) launched GenAI.mil in December, which is a new AI platform designed to bring advanced generative AI tools to the entire military workforce.
GenAI.mil provides conversational chat, file uploads, and retrieval-augmented generation from user-supplied documents. It also offers secure web grounding, deep research functions, and persistent chat histories.
“GenAI.mil is authorized for immediate use by all Marines, civilians, and contractors using government-furnished equipment. The platform is approved for processing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). It is not approved for handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), or classified information,” the announcement reads.
It is accessible across headquarters and military installations worldwide and is slated for continuous development, including expansion to higher-classification networks, integration with Marine Corps data, agentic AI solutions, and API support.
