More than 1 million unique users across the Pentagon are now integrating AI into their daily workflows, according to Jacob Glassman, assistant secretary of war for science and technology foundations, Meritalk reported.
While speaking at the GovCIO Media and Research Defense IT Summit, Glassman said the Department of War will launch newer generative AI models “very soon”. The new models will be rolled out to employees in the near term, followed by integration of agentic AI capabilities.
“It’s now a part of the workflow of the workforce. We’re already changing the culture, and we have not even remotely started really,” he added.
Glassman also highlighted an AI-driven “patent holiday” that used commercial analytics tools to identify high-potential patents sitting dormant in government labs.
The initiative offered no-fee commercial evaluation licenses, resulting in two license agreements within five weeks and sixteen more under negotiation.
