W. R. Berkley Corporation has appointed Kalyani Sekar Senior Vice President of AI & Technology. She leads technology strategy, architecture, and enablement for embedding AI-driven automation into the processes and systems that power the enterprise.

Sekar joins W. R. Berkley from Verizon, where she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Data & AI Officer. She led enterprise-wide AI transformation, aligning business, technology, AI, and data leaders around a unified AI strategy focused on decision excellence, operational efficiency, and customer and employee experiences. She also established and scaled enterprise AI platforms and chaired Verizon’s Enterprise AI Council.

Before that, Sekar served as Vice President and Chief Data Officer at Verizon, leading enterprise data strategy, architecture, engineering, governance, and AI platforms. She also held technology strategy and transformation leadership roles, including Vice President and Managing Director, where she built and scaled Verizon’s Global Capability & Technology Center in India into an organization of more than 6,000 engineers.

Sekar also serves as a CXO Fellow Advisor at Vibrant Capital, a Governing Body Member at Evanta, a Gartner company, and a Board Member at EDM Council.
