For the week of June 1, highlighted in this edition, we feature key leadership updates at Standard Chartered, AIG, and Marriott International, alongside several other notable appointments recently spotlighted on CDO Magazine.

Manulife has promoted Harshad Rane to Vice President, Head of AI, Global Operations. Rane, who previously served as AVP of Global Customer AI Solutions, will lead the company’s AI strategy and transformation roadmap across its global operations portfolio. His remit includes scaling responsible AI governance and embedding intelligent automated workflows across contact centers, underwriting, claims, and back-office operations.

Standard Chartered has appointed Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer, based in Singapore. Baweja has been with the bank since 2008, most recently serving as CISO for Wealth, Retail Banking, and International Markets. In her new role, she will head the Group Data Office to advance the bank’s enterprise data strategy, strengthen data foundations, and accelerate client-centric analytics innovation globally.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security, has named Andrew Vanjani as Chief Information Officer. Vanjani transitions from the Organization of American States (OAS), where he served as CIO. At USCIS, he will oversee the agency’s digital infrastructure, focusing on deploying emerging technologies to combat fraud and identity risks while streamlining service delivery.

Marriott International has appointed CDO Magazine Global Board member Shiv Misra as Managing Vice President, Data, AI & Emerging Technologies. Misra, who recently architected the enterprise AI strategy at McKesson, will oversee Marriott’s global data platforms and personalization capabilities. His expanded remit also includes spearheading next-generation initiatives across emerging frontiers like Quantum Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Twins to drive operational impact.

AIG has expanded the role of Jim Young, naming him Global Chief Data Officer and Head of Agentic AI Solutions. Young, a veteran of Travelers and Allstate, will now combine his data leadership for General Insurance with enterprise-wide responsibilities for AI strategy. He will focus on executing digital transformation frameworks and scaling generative and agentic AI models across underwriting and claims.
