The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) has appointed Brent Matthewson as its inaugural Chief Data Officer. Matthewson, who previously served as CDO at WellStar Health System, brings over 20 years of experience to this newly created role. He is tasked with overseeing the agency’s data strategy and modernization, leveraging his expertise in cloud-based enterprise operations and predictive modeling to enhance the agency’s analytical capabilities.

Equitable Advisors has hired Anthony Montufar as Head of Digital and Client Experience. Joining from Wells Fargo Advisors, Montufar will lead the firm’s digital strategy, focusing on advisor tools, client-facing platforms, and AI-enabled digital capabilities. His appointment is a strategic move to support the firm’s rapid growth in assets under administration and to further streamline integrated workflows for both advisors and clients.

The United States Department of War (DoW) has appointed James “Aaron” Bishop as Deputy Chief Information Officer for Cybersecurity and Chief Information Security Officer. Bishop, a U.S. Navy veteran and former CISO for the Department of the Air Force, succeeds David McKeown. He will provide department-wide oversight on cybersecurity matters, supporting priorities for lethality, efficiency, and warfighter readiness.

Cook Children’s Health Care System has named Kathy Jobes as Chief Information Security Officer. With over 25 years of healthcare cybersecurity experience, Jobes is known for a human-centric approach to data governance and risk management. Reporting to the incoming CDIO, she will focus on ensuring that technology serves as a secure foundation for pediatric patient safety and clinical care.

State Street has appointed Manoj Bohra as Chief Data and AI Officer to lead its global strategy for data, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics. Bohra joins from Google Cloud, where he served as Managing Director, and previously spent two decades at Bank of America. He is responsible for building enterprise platforms that support trusted, scalable AI and embedding data-driven capabilities across the firm’s global financial solutions.

The Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory has elevated Budhendra “Budhu” Bhaduri to serve as its first Chief Data Officer. A Corporate Research Fellow who joined ORNL in 1998, Bhaduri will now oversee the laboratory’s enterprise data strategy. His role is pivotal in supporting energy innovation, national security, and the DOE’s Genesis Mission to accelerate scientific discovery through data-driven platforms.
