For the week of October 5, highlighted in this edition, we feature key leadership updates at Legal & General, Edward Jones, and Hachette Book Group, alongside several other notable appointments recently spotlighted on CDO Magazine.

Hachette Book Group has promoted Dan Levy to Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer. Levy has been with HBG for nearly five years, most recently serving as Vice President of the Data Intelligence Group and previously as CIO at Workman Publishing. In his expanded global role, he will join the executive IT leadership team and direct the group data, BI, and reporting strategy across Hachette Book Group, Hachette UK, and its subsidiaries.

Sanford Health has named Mayil Dharmarajan Chief Data & AI Officer. Dharmarajan brings extensive healthcare analytics and informatics experience, having previously served as Vice President of Data and Analytics at UCI Health and in enterprise data leadership roles at Keck Medicine of USC and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In his new role, he will lead Sanford Health’s data and AI strategy to transform healthcare delivery.

Legal & General has named Jamie Ovenden Group Chief Technology, Data, and Innovation Officer, reporting to Group CEO António Simões. Ovenden joins the financial services group from Schroders, where he served as Chief Technology Officer and Global Head of Enterprise Technology, Digital Technology, and Innovation. In his new position on the Group Management Committee, he will drive digital transformation and innovation to support the company’s next phase of growth.

Edward Jones has appointed Ryan Swann Chief Data Officer. Swann brings deep financial and public sector data leadership experience, having spent more than five years as Chief Data Analytics Officer and Principal at Vanguard, as well as holding CDO roles at Collibra, E*TRADE Financial, and the Office of Government-Wide Policy. He will focus on leveraging data and AI to drive value, innovation, and client impact across the firm.

ProQR Therapeutics has appointed Chris Hart Chief Data and AI Officer. Hart brings more than two decades of experience in computational biology, genomics, and AI/ML-driven oligonucleotide drug discovery, having served as Vice President of Data Science and AI/ML at Eli Lilly, founding CEO of Creyon Bio, and functional genomics leader at Ionis Pharmaceuticals. He will lead ProQR’s AI strategy to accelerate drug discovery, candidate selection, and clinical development.
