John Podboy, Semperis Chief Information Security Officer
Semperis has appointed John Podboy as Chief Information Security Officer. In the role, he will bring his experience in cybersecurity, digital transformation, risk, and resilience to support the company’s identity-focused cyber defense efforts amid an increasingly dynamic threat landscape.
Podboy brings more than 15 years of experience spanning cybersecurity, technology management, digital transformation, risk, and resilience. Over the course of his career, he has led large-scale security programs supporting federal agencies and organizations across the retail, manufacturing, industrial, technology, media, and financial services sectors.
Before joining Semperis, Podboy was Senior Vice President and Executive Director at First Citizens Bank, leading cybersecurity strategy, architecture, engineering, modernization, cryptography, and security-by-design initiatives while overseeing a global team of more than 200 professionals.
Earlier in his career, Podboy held cybersecurity and identity leadership roles at Fifth Third Bank, Thomson Reuters, and GE Digital, where he led large-scale identity, access management, and security transformation programs across enterprise environments.
Semperis Chief Operating Officer Sharon Vardi said Podboy’s experience building and scaling security programs focused on identity-centered cybersecurity strategy will further strengthen the company’s efforts to help organizations protect hybrid identity environments and improve recovery capabilities following cyberattacks.
Reflecting on the transition in a LinkedIn post, Podboy shared, “What excites me most as I settle in is our core mission: to be a force for good, enabling our customers to achieve cyber resiliency in a threat landscape that grows more complex by the day.”
