BIMCO, an international shipping association with 2,100 members in 120 countries, has named Grant Hunter Chief Technology and Data Officer. In the role, Hunter is responsible for investigating the future of the shipping business to help BIMCO deliver digitalized products and services to members and the wider industry. He is also committed to helping accelerate the adoption of electronic bills of lading.

Hunter has worked at BIMCO since 1997, most recently serving as Chief Digital Officer and Director of Products. He previously held roles as Director of Standards, Innovation, and Research and Head of Contracts and Clauses. Before joining BIMCO, he worked as Contract Manager at P&O Bulk Carriers and as Operations Manager at ARC Marine.

Hunter began his shipping career as a Deck Cadet with Ben Line Steamers, serving on general cargo ships and bulk carriers. He later spent eight years in the commercial and operations department of P&O Bulk Shipping in London.

Hunter holds a master’s degree in maritime policy and law from the London School of Economics.
